Losing a limb changes a person’s life, but it does not have to define their future. Serhii’s journey, a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian War, demonstrates how determination, professional rehabilitation, and advanced prosthetic technology can help people return to an active and fulfilling life. The Road to Recovery At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Serhii volunteered to defend Ukraine. During a combat mission, he stepped on a PFM-1 landmine and sustained severe injuries that resulted in a lower-limb amputation. Following surgery, treatment, and rehabilitation, a new chapter began — prosthetic fitting and adaptation. Just one month after leaving the hospital, Serhii received his first prosthesis and took his first steps toward regaining independence. A Step-by-Step Rehabilitation Process Recovery required patience, consistency, and a personalized approach. Together with the specialists at the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center “Bez Obmezhen,” Serhii followed an individual rehabilitation plan designed around his needs and goals. The process began with a test socket and an initial prosthetic solution that allowed gradual adaptation to weight-bearing and daily activities. As the residual limb changed shape and volume during recovery, regular adjustments ensured comfort, stability, and optimal performance. Step by step, Serhii progressed from short walking sessions to a highly active lifestyle. Returning to Sports As his confidence and physical abilities grew, it became clear that a standard prosthetic setup could no longer meet his ambitions. Serhii wanted more than mobility — he wanted to run, train, practice hand-to-hand combat, and explore new challenges. This led to the next stage of his journey: a sports prosthesis equipped with the Panther foot by Parashar Industries. Panther: Built for High Performance The Panther sports foot was developed for individuals who demand more from their prosthetic equipment. Designed to withstand intense physical activity, it provides stability, durability, and energy return for dynamic movement. For Serhii, this meant the confidence to perform strength training, run, jump, and participate in demanding physical activities without constantly worrying about the reliability of his prosthesis. Today, he continues to push his limits through sports, explores activities such as climbing, and keeps discovering new possibilities for an active life. More Than Technology Behind every prosthetic component is a human story. At Parashar Industries, engineering is about more than creating advanced prosthetic solutions — it is about helping people regain freedom of movement, confidence, and independence. Serhii’s story is a reminder that true strength is not measured by the challenges we face, but by our determination to move forward. Panther became part of that journey — a journey from the first steps after amputation to new athletic achievements and opportunities.
